A Beginner’s Guide to Sportive Riding
What to Expect in a Velo29 Sportive
NEW FOR 2024 Femme Cheshire!
Please not the new date.
To ensure the event goes ahead, we have had to make some changes so that we can still deliver the sportive at a Velo29 standard.
Firstly, the change of date to 22nd September 2024 which is the same day as our Cheshire Classic sportive. Secondly, as the routes are the same, we will is set the Cheshire Classic riders off from 07:30 and then do a group start for the Femme Cheshire riders around 08:00. You will still receive a Femme medal and Femme ride time.
Whilst we get really good Female participation in our open Sportives, we recognise that there are boundaries for some women in what can be perceived as a male-dominated area of the Sport. With this in mind and with the success of Femme we were immediately convinced that adding a Femme Cheshire to the 2024 Calendar was the right thing to do.
The event will use the excellent Apollo Buckingham University Campus as an HQ from which we are soon out onto glorious Cheshire Roads. Many of you will be amazed at how great these routes are! Hardly a car in sight as we twist through these delightful Cheshire lanes. There are fewer potholes than in the Cheshire Cat too!
By design the route airs on the flatter side, there are lumps but really nothing serious, especially on the Short and Medium.
The route signs are brilliant, the feeds well stocked and the support on hand when you need it. A lovely medal, a BBQ sausage bun and a chilled alkoholfrei await you back in Crewe at the Finish line.
