La Roue Medium is one of our shorter Medium Routes. We’ve done this by design, it’s early season, we don’t want to burn you out and of course, there is Hope Mountain to tackle along the way!! However, other than Hope Mountain it’s a pretty flat route, there are some small bergs as we head South into Wales, and we cross the Border twice as we head towards the Long Route Split point at Holy Bush. The scenery on this Southern most part of the Medium really is great, we don’t encounter much habitation for quite some miles, just great views, quiet lanes and some great company as with all Velo29 Sportives.
We turn and head North towards the feed at Gresford, only 1 feed on this Medium route as it’s one of our shorter rides, we’ve reflected this in the pricing. As always you’ll find a wonderful selection of fresh Sarnies, Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls, our Famous Brownies and recently changed (for the better) Flapjack! A hot brew and as much High5 as you can handle too!
From the feed stop back to Cheshire we encounter Hope Mountain! Just over 300m high with a few switchback turns, it’s an exciting climb! The views at the top of Waun-Y-Llyn Country Park are stunning, so worth the effort! From there it’s an enjoyable descent towards Pontlyddyn and back to Cheshire to receive a great medal, a Hot BBQ Sausage bun and a chilled can of Erdinger Alkoholfrei.
