A Beginner’s Guide to Sportive Riding
What to Expect in a Velo29 Sportive
New for 2018 Velo29 bring you Ride Prague!
We’ve taken you round the North of England with our fantastic routes, brilliant signage and great event support. Now explore this fantastic part of Central Europe with us and enjoy all the same facilities.
We start from the National Exhibition centre and descend into one of Europe’s most beautiful Cities. Our route takes us right through the Centre along the banks of the River Vltava. We ride past Bohemian architecture in its finest with great views of Prague Castle, the Opera House and Charles Bridge as we head North on the River.
We rejoin open highways and climb away from the Vlatava onto roads which feel like the fields of Flanders. The hills are rolling, the roads small and quiet and the Villages welcoming. Don’t underestimate the scenery out here, it’s not dramatic like the alps but it really is lovely. The Prague climate in August is typically great, dry and hot, rain is rare.
Of course we’ve found some hills, some of which are real gems! We’ve even found a glorious ascent which starts by the Harasov lake in the Central Bohemia forests has switch back climbs to Kokorin Castle. This is a must do selfie point, the views are unforgettable!
This is a wonderful ride and a fantastic way to explore a new and glorious part of Europe. Flights are cheap and accessible, hotels aplenty and if you’re bringing the family and making a weekend of it then Prague offers much.

We are happy to make some suggestions so please do get in touch via email events@velo29.com
The HQ is a 1 minute ride from the Underground and transfers from the airport to the centre are frequent but again drop us an email as we have a lot of local knowledge.
An event not to miss!
