A Beginner’s Guide to Sportive Riding
What to Expect in a Velo29 Sportive
The Prince of Wales Hospice provides palliative care and support for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Without public support, hospice care wouldn’t be possible.
Velo29 stepped in back in 2023 to take over the running of the Cyclothon, we tweaked the routes and get the event back on a stable footing.
The Cyclothon is an important event in Velo29’s and The Hospice’s calendar. It’s a great ride on some wonderful roads and we generate some important funds for the Charity.
The only change from 2024 is a HQ move to Pontefract Racecourse, the original home of this event and visible from the Hospice.
With 3 great route choices, none of them hilly this is a Sportive in the ‘great day out’ category. We have lots of family riders, E-bikes and people new to Sportive riding as well as some of our regular challenge riders on the long route.
The Prince of Wales Hospice Cyclothon is one of the longest standing fund raising events. Always a successful event and a great day for all.
20% of your entry fee (excluding booking fee) will go to The Prince of Wales Hospice. You are of course welcome to fundraise and donate further to the charity if you wish – we’d love to hear your stories on that.
