Back for another year, the toughest day on a bike there is!
The concept of The Beast chasing you around Yorkshire really makes this event!. He’s angry and relentless! He chases you all day at 12.5mph! If he passes you, YOU ARE BEASTED and it’s game over!
Typically we have roughly a 75% success rate. Those who make it cross the line in tears of emotion, those who don’t go home empty.
No other event offers the challenge and excitement of THE BEAST!
We depart Thirsk at 05:00 and straight away enjoy Boltby Bank, many of you see The Beast here as he starts to catch you on the climb.
A descent ahead to get some distance on The Beast in readiness for Hawnby!
Hawby to Osmotherey isn’t too bad, you won’t see him here. Then To Stokelsey and Feed 1 at Kildale. We’ve usually had a few victims here, 40 miles in and The Beast has eaten breakfast!
Pace yourself or build a buffer, tactics start to come to play now!
Feed 1 to Feed 2 is the toughest part of the course. Kildale/ Commondale/ Castleton/ Danby and then BOOM, Caper Hill and Rosedale.
Feed 2 at Hutton-Le-Hole starts a 30 mile flat run back to Thirsk, wind is a factor of course. Usually though you get to Feed 2 ahead of the Beast and you’ve safely completed The Moors.
A tough choice at Thirsk, it’s a tempting bailout point! Power on though. The afternoon is tough but this is what we came here for!
Greenhow isn’t too bad but it’s a lumpy run through to feed 4 at Kilnsey. From Feed 4 to Feed 5 is where you make or break it!
Park Rash then Flow Edge are brutal, especially with 150 miles in the legs!
2 awesome descents but not much fun as the exhaustion kicks in!
Make it to feed 5 at The Dales Bike Centre and only Grinton Moor stands between you and The Beast!
Those who make it collapse on the floor, exhausted and lost for words. Many hug loved ones in tears of emotion, this event is like no other!
Everyone who rides the Beast tells us it’s the toughest Sportive there is. They draw a comparison with other ultra-challenge events and without question the Beast is the toughest!
A day to remember forever! Enter now and set your goal high for 2024, you will not have a bigger challenge.
