The 7th edition of this popular winter series, this year with more rounds than ever!
As Croft is not available every weekend we have introduced 2 rounds at the Middlesbrough Prissick Circuit. It’s a shorter track at 1km but still offers great racing and is a chance to experience racing in a new environment.
At Croft the time table is;
4th Cat 11:00
At Prissick its slightly different
4th Cat 12:45
There are 3 races each week. 4th Category and Go-Race riders. which is an 8 lap 16.8 mile race lasting usually around 45 minutes at Croft, Prissick laps are TBC. Though the racing is fast and exciting it’s a great place to “cut your teeth” in the competitive side of cycling and learn the craft of riding in a bunch at speed. We have lots of riders who have ridden our Sportives or are brand new to organised cycling events and want to have a go at racing or riders coming from other sports such as triathlon and running. Typically 60 – 80 riders take part, all riders set off together.
We are again running the popular Female race. It’s a 7 lap 22km race at Croft, Prissick TBC. There is a separate prize fund and prize giving for this race.
Riders use a timing chip with a super accurate system built in the track. You will get a lap time for each lap as well as an overall time and position, so you can track your progress each week.
The 3rd race is for E/1/2/3/4/J/ riders, this means that 4th cat riders can ride the second race for only the cost of the British Cycling Levies which is £5.
Starting at 12:15 it’s a different format with riders setting off in category groups at approximately 1 minute intervals, known as handicap racing. The race is 15 laps (31.5 miles) usually lasting around 80 minutes, depending on the wind speed. Around 60 – 80 riders take part in this event.
For the E1234 we will confirm the Prissick format.
There are 8 races in this year’s Winter Series, we have series points for teams and individuals, lots of you enter large teams which is great. We’ve added a Junior prize this year.
The biggest Winter Series in the UK and continuing to grow!
