Fancy an early-season challenge? If the answer is yes then the Manchester Sheffield Manchester (The Stockport Sportive) medium route is for you. You will not be disappointed if you like big climbs, amazing scenery and great grub. Shortly after the first feed at 24miles serving award-winning pork pies along with sausage rolls, flapjack, brownies and High5 energy products you will encounter Snake Pass which is a classic ‘Alpine’ style climb. Long, steady and very little variation in gradient. You can do the climb in the same gear all the way up; it is also a climb where you can sit in the saddle for the whole duration of the 3.3miles at 6% average.
100 meters from the ‘Welcome to Sheffield’ sign you will turn off and head into some of the most scenic roads we have ridden. Superb descents and challenging climbs await as you pass The Strines Inn winding your way past the Langsett Reservoir and onto Carlcotes. From here the gradients ease slightly as we head to Glossop for a second well deserved feed then onto the final 12miles back into Stockport where you will have certainly earned your medal.
