A Beginner’s Guide to Sportive Riding
What to Expect in a Velo29 Sportive
The Stockton Sportive, one of the most inclusive events in the calendar!
From the “tougher than the Fed Whitton” Tour de Moor at 105 miles/ 11,000ft of the climbing route, right down to the nearly flat short route ride, there is something for everyone!
Any of the 3 routes available are stunning. Depart the established event site of Stockton Riverside on closed roads and ride away from the urban area soon to be in The N. Yorks Moors.
Every turn is signposted, there are motorbikes and service cars out on the course to keep you safe and help resolve any issues. First aid is available on all the routes and we have regular feed stops and water stations along the way.
Quickly you are on Country Roads heading deep into North Yorkshire and some wonderful scenery, riding down quiet lanes with 100’s of riders of all abilities and admiring this great part of the World.
The short ride is mostly flat, aimed at families and people who are new to Sportive riding. You still enjoy quiet roads in great scenery but the ride isn’t too challenging. You can take as long as you want to ride it, we have people on all kinds of bikes on the short route. It’s a great, fun start to Sportive riding.
Those looking for some more miles and serious climbing can take on the medium route, at 73 miles and 5,300 feet of climbing it’s a perfect route to see the countryside and test your riding ability.
For the die-hard experienced Sportive rider, we have the toughest ride there is le Tour de Moor. Over 100 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing. Riders return declaring it the toughest ride they have event done.
Whatever route you chose the 2022 Stockton Sportive will be a great day out in a safe and well-supported event and your chance to be part of this spectacular weekend in Stockton-on-Tees.
