The FULL FAT version of this awesome day out! 100miles, 7,000ft of climbing!
We take in Cote de Jubilee Tower, Cote de Trough of Bowland, Cote de Waddington Fell and Cote de Belmont. We avoid Cote de Parbold as we didn’t feel it is a suitable piece of road and not a very exciting climb.
A big slice of the climbing is done between feed stop 1 at 20 miles and feed 2 at 45 miles; ‘only’ Cote de Belmont comes after feed 2.
First comes Jubilee Tower, and it’s possibly the toughest! 4.1km, 5.7% average, reaching a height of 287m. We descend to 145m, then rise back up on Cote de Trough of Bowland at 3.7km with a 3.8% average, reaching a max height of 297m.
Cote de Waddington Fell is possibly the hardest of the day: 3.5 km, 226m ascent to a total height of 352m! It’s an average of 6.4%; you’re going to know about this one!
Cote de Belmont is really the latter section of 2 climbs which collectively total 7km! We rise from 96m at 113km all the way to 321m at 120km; with all those miles in the legs, this one will sting!
Imagine the bragging rights in the office on Monday: ‘I rode Stage 2 of the Tour!’ When you watch the racing in July, it will be amazing to look back at your Strava times and compare them with the Tour riders. Watching the race will mean so much more because of your efforts on this ride!
An awesome day out, an awesome new medal and a 1 off chance to be part of Le Tour!
